Here Are Some Family Reunion Fundraising Ideas

If family reunions were easier to pull off we’d be throwing them all the time, but they are logistically very difficult to organize. Many family members do not have the financial wherewithal to travel or the ability to take time off work. What most families need before they can even consider a reunion, is a good old fund raising event, but how? What could you do for family reunion Fundraising Ideas?

Bingo: Organize a bingo night for your local community. It could be in your house or at local venue that may provide the space for free if they understand it is a fundraiser. Who doesn’t love bingo? As an incentive you could offer prizes which could be monetary or better still in the form of homemade donations. There could be a cover charge at the door or a charge per bingo card. Retain half the earnings for the family reunion and distribute the rest as prize money.

Swear Jar: Inform all family members that each household should have a ‘swear jar.’ Every time a family member is caught swearing they have to pay a fine of a pre-selected amount – usually a quarter, depending how much swearing goes on and financial disposition of ‘he with filthy mouth.’ There is nothing more satisfying that ‘curing’ a potty mouth and dropping all the collected coins into a change countingmachine watching the value climb with every clink.

Garage Sale: There are ways to de-clutter and what better way than a garage sale? You will need room for visiting family members anyway. (Remember to look for unwanted gifts once received from family who will want to see if you still love the wall mounted ‘big mouth Billy bass singing fish’)! Or what about eBay? Get the younger kids in the family to use their computer prowess by listing items for sale. The ‘Buy It Now’ option is a surefire way to lessen clutter and increase funds.
