Why Holiday Fundraisers Work

There's no question that the busiest times of the year in the fundraising industry fall at the beginning of the school year in August and September and in January and February as the second half of the school year starts.  Schools and other non-profit organizations raise most of their money during these times.  But there are many reasons, if you weren't already planning on having a holiday fundraiser, to do so. Here are just a few:

1. 'TIS THE SEASON FOR GIVING
It's the holidays; people are in a giving mood.  Tap into this spirit of giving by passionately presenting your cause and you're sure to reap the rewards.  Also, as it gets closer to the end of the year, people are looking for causes to donate to for tax purposes.  But they're only going to give to your cause if they know about your cause.  So get the word out!  During the course of your fundraiser, reach out to as many people as possible as you never know where you might find your next big donor.

2. MORE FREE TIME
As school lets out for the holidays, kids find themselves with much more free time on their hands.  Use this idle time, focus their energy and start raising money for your cause. It will get them out of the house while allowing them to spend time with their friends outside of school.  If you can, motivate them with prizes; this is sure to encourage teamwork as well as some healthy competition.  After all, who doesn't like to receive goodies around the holidays?

3. GREAT TIME FOR A PARTY
The holidays are the perfect time to throw any event or party.  So why not throw a party that helps raise money for your cause?  Come up with a theme, have your Fundraising Products ready to sell and throw a holiday fundraising party.  Be sure to put some time and effort into promoting your event.  The more people that show, the more money you are likely to raise.  These days, the Internet, with outlets like Myspace and Facebook, is a great way to get the word out about an event in no time.  During the event, make sure you take time out to let your guests know about your cause and how they can contribute.

4. PERFECT SUPPLEMENTAL FUNDRAISER
Holiday fundraisers don't have to be long, drawn-out, month-long fundraisers.  They can be over one weekend, or even over a single night.  Holiday fundraisers are perfect for any group looking to raise money in a short period of time.
